The Abortion Pill - A New Generation

The Abortion Pill

What is the abortion pill?

A medication abortion, the abortion pill, is two drugs taken in separate doses (one at a clinic and one at home.) Another name for the abortion pill is a medical or chemical abortion.

When can I take the abortion pill?

It can be taken between 4-6 weeks but is FDA approved for up to 10-11 weeks after a woman’s last menstrual period.

It is important for a woman to confirm the gestational age of the pregnancy via ultrasound before taking the abortion pill.  Our clinic can provide you with a free ultrasound to determine gestational age.

If you are considering a medication abortion or ordering the abortion pill online, contact us to learn more about how it works, side effect, and what options are available to you.

How effective is the abortion pill?

The effectiveness of the abortion pill is determined by how far along you are when you take the medications. It works 94-98% of the time. Note: The abortion pill does not work and should not be taken if you have an ectopic pregnancy. Contact to verify your pregnancy and if it is occurring inside the uterus.

What if I’ve only taken the first medication?

Some women decide they want to continue their pregnancy after taking the first pill. The process of the abortion pill can be reversed if action is taken immediately after the first medication. Contact the Abortion Pill Reversal Network to learn more about abortion pill reversal or call us to learn what your options are in the case of a failed abortion.
